Assoc. Prof. Dr. Noncho Dimitrov is the new head of the "National and Regional Security" department

On January 30, 2024, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Noncho Dimitrov was unanimously elected by the staff of the "National and Regional Security" department as its head. The decision was also confirmed at a faculty council held on February 20, 2024.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dimitrov has been a long-time teacher in the department and has made a significant contribution to its development, since 2018 he held the position of "Scientific Secretary". His scientific interests cover some of the most relevant aspects of security, including strategic management, energy security and crisis management. Currently, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dimitrov is also the Deputy Dean for Quality and International Cooperation at the Faculty of Infrastructure Economics, and is also a member of the Board of the Union for Economic Initiative and the Plenary Session of the Economic and Social Council of the Republic of Bulgaria.

Before him, for a period of four terms (16 years), the position of head of the "National and Regional Security" department was held by Prof. Dr. Dimitar Dimitrov, currently rector of UNWE.

On the position of "scientific secretary" was elected Ch. Assist. Dr. Atanas Dimitrov, also a teacher and researcher in the department, whose scientific interests include peace and conflict studies, migration and refugee issues and the development of higher education. The decision on his new position was voted unanimously at a faculty council held on February 27, 2024.
