With decision No. 202 of March 21, 2024, the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Bulgaria approved the "Report on the State of Defense and the Armed Forces in 2023."

The report contains an account of the results achieved in the field of defense policy in and is part of the democratic and civilian control of the Armed Forces. It will be submitted for consideration in the National Assembly.

The Report states that in 2023, continuity was ensured in the national goals and priorities arising from the Constitution, laws and strategic documents in the field of security and defense, as well as in the implementation of the commitments made in the framework of the collective defense of NATO and the Common security and defense policy of the EU.

Based on the conclusions drawn, the Report outlines the main directions for work
in and in the medium term.
